What a Difference a Day Makes!

Monday morning we left the cement, steel and modernity of Berlin, drove south on the E55 autobahn, got off it near Dresden at Pirna and went into the region of Germany known as Sachsische Schweiz (Saxon Switzerland). Much of the region is a national park, famous for its rock formations and popular with hikers and rock climbers. It was about as far away from a big city - and a good midway point between Berlin and Prague, our next big city destination - as we could get. Papstdorf, where we stayed, has a population of about 5000.   The followings pictures show some of the amazing rock formations in this area which is situated on the Elbe River very close to Stadt Wehlen and Bad Schandau.
